Box ScoreEVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team saw its 2014 home-opener spoiled at the hands of the University of Missouri-St. Louis as the Tritons dealt the Screaming Eagles a 3-0 setback Friday evening at Strassweg Field.
Missouri-St. Louis (4-1-0, 2-1-0 GLVC) scored goals in the 22nd and 38th minutes of the contest it went into the intermission with a 2-0 lead. Junior Laura Hurlbut connected on the Tritons' first goal off a rebound, while fellow classmate Jen Eaton scored the second goal of the contest on a breakaway.
The Tritons added another tally in the 57th minute when junior Mary Hoffman found the back of the net.
USI (1-4-0, 0-3-0 GLVC) had three scoring opportunities in the first 11 minutes as three different players had shots on-goal, but Missouri-St. Louis junior goalie Megan Ohm was up to the task as she stopped each one of the Eagles' attempts.
Junior goalkeeper Jackie Lohman (Owensboro, Kentucky) took the loss for the Eagles after surrendering three goals and posting one save in 59 minutes of work.
USI returns to action Sunday at noon when it hosts Maryville University at Strassweg Field. The Saints (3-1-1, 2-1-0 GLVC) defeated the University of Illinois Springfield, 1-0, Friday.
