QUINCY, Ill. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team lost its 2014 Great Lakes Valley Conference opener to 25
th-ranked Quincy University, 2-0, Friday night in Quincy, Illinois. USI falls to 1-2-0 to start the 2014 campaign, 0-1-0 GLVC, while the Hawks rise to 2-1-0, 1-0-0 GLVC.
The Hawks scored the only goal they would need at 22:41 of the first half. Quincy would seal the match with a tally at 77:17 of the second half for the final score of 2-0. Overall in the match, Quincy outshot USI, 17-5, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 10-2.
The Eagles complete their season-opening road swing Sunday when they visit Truman State University for a noon match. USI plays its first regular-season game at Strassweg Field September 19 when its hosts the University of Missouri-St. Louis for a GLVC contest.
