USI rises six spots in final NABC/Division II poll of 2013-14

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team rose six spots to 14th in the final NABC/Division II Top 25 poll of 2013-14. The Screaming Eagles, who won their 12th Great Lakes Valley Conference championship and earned the automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division II Tournament , started the year at 18th in the preseason poll and were ranked as high as eighth during the year.
 
USI starts NCAA II Midwest Regional action Saturday at noon when it plays Michigan Tech University. The Eagles are the third seed in the tournament, while Huskies are the seventh seed and received votes for the top 25.
 
In addition to USI and Michigan Tech, the Midwest Regional features top-seeded and eighth-ranked Drury University; second-seeded and 12th-ranked University of Indianapolis; fourth-seeded and 21st –ranked University of Findlay; fifth-seeded and 25th-ranked Lake Superior State University; and eighth-seeded and 22nd–ranked University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Sixth-seeded Bellarmine University joined Michigan Tech in receiving votes for the top 25.
