Game Notes
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team will "Play4Kay" Saturday at 1 p.m. when it hosts the University of Missouri-St. Louis for Homecoming at the Physical Activities Center.
USI, which will wear its pink uniforms in its annual game to raise breast cancer awareness, also hosts Maryville University Thursday at 5:15 p.m. to begin the two-game homestand.
In addition to Homecoming and the "Play4Kay" game, the Screaming Eagles will recognize veterans and military personnel with a Military Appreciation Night Thursday. They also will partner with Deaconess Hospital Thursday to promote heart health awareness.
USI (14-7, 8-5 GLVC) is looking to snap a two-game skid when it hosts the Saints (13-9, 6-6 GLVC) Thursday. The Eagles, currently third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division, are 3-0 all-time against Maryville after defeating the Saints, 69-63, at the PAC last year.
Junior forward/center
Anna Hackert racked up 20 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists against the Saints a year ago. She finished with 24 points and nine rebounds in the Eagles' 90-87 loss to No. 11 Quincy University Saturday.
Hackert, who became the 13th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points and the sixth player to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds when she reached the scoring milestone in USI's loss to Quincy, leads the GLVC with 19.9 points per appearance. She also is second in the league with a team-best 9.5 rebounds per outing.
Senior guard
Stephanie Carpenter, who erupted for 22 points in the final 10 minutes against Quincy, is second on the team with 14.2 points per game. Carpenter led USI with 13 points in the Eagles' 73-65 win over Missouri-St. Louis last season and is just 10 three-pointers shy of the program's all-time career record (184).
USI is looking for its 10th straight win over the Tritons, who are currently fourth in the GLVC West Division with a 16-5 overall record and 9-4 mark in league play.
