EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team begins its Great Lakes Valley Conference title defense January 2 at 7:30 p.m. when it opens conference play against William Jewell College at the Physical Activities Center. USI also concludes its first weekend of GLVC play and the three-game homestand January 4 at 3:15 p.m. by hosting Rockhurst University.

USI Men's Basketball Notes versus William Jewell and Rockhurst: USI starts GLVC play looking for 13th GLVC title. The University of Southern Indiana begins Great Lakes Valley Conference action looking for its 13
th league championship and its third in four seasons.
USI vs. GLVC since 1992-93. The Eagles have been dominating in the GLVC since 1992-93, posting a regular season conference record of 326-89 (.786). Between 1992 and 2014, USI has had at least 14 wins 20 times, posted 16 or more wins eight times, and won seven regular season conference titles.
Eagles finish 2014 with a win. USI closed out the 2014 calendar with a 97-71 victory over Salem International University.
Schumann a leader in the scoring column. Senior guard
Gavin Schumann leads the Eagles and is among the best in the GLVC in scoring. Schumann led USI against SIU with 30 points, making him the only player in the GLVC to score 30 points or more in a game twice this year. Overall, he leads USI and ranks third in the league with 20.0 points per contest.
Edwards and Roland follow in the scoring column. Junior forward
George Edwards is second on the team and fourth in the GLVC with 19.6 points per game. Senior guard
TeNale Roland rounds out USI's double-digit scorers with 13.9 points per outing.

George Edwards comes off the bench to lead the Eagles in rebounding with 9.6 boards per contest. Edwards had four- double-doubles in eight non-conference games and posted a season-high 15 rebounds in the loss to third-ranked Florida Southern College.
Non-conference foes have tough going against USI. USI was 7-1 in the 2014-15 non-conference games and is 192-22 (.897) against non-GLVC teams during the last 22 seasons. Of the 22 losses, two have come in the NCAA Division II Tournament Finals and three in the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional.
