EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team tips-off the regular season Friday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Midwest Region foe Malone University at the Physical Activities Center. The Screaming Eagles also host another Midwest Region opponent in Ohio Valley University Saturday at 3:15 p.m. at the PAC.

USI is coming off a preseason that saw it post a 1-1 record in exhibition games against Division I foes Indiana State University and the University of Evansville. After losing to the Sycamores, 72-39, to open last Friday, the Eagles bounced back with a 76-72 win over UE Saturday afternoon.
Senior forward/center
Anna Hackert (Evansville, Indiana) paced the Eagles with 20.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game during the exhibition contests, including 31 points and 10 rebounds in the win over the Purple Aces.
Following their games against Malone and Ohio Valley, the Eagles visit Kentucky Wesleyan College Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Owensboro for another Midwest Region tilt.
USI vs. Malone/Ohio Valley Notes Opening success: The USI women's basketball team is looking for its sixth consecutive season-opening victory when it takes on Malone. The Eagles also have won theirlast 11 home-openers.
Eagles earn first exhibition win since 2006: USI's 76-72 win over Evansville Saturday was its first exhibition victory since edging Morehead State, 75-74, in 2006. USI, which lost to Indiana State, 72-39, the previous night, improves to 10-14 since 1992 in exhibition games and 2-9 against Division I opponents.

Anna Hackert led the Eagles in their exhibition games last week. Hackert averaged 20.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, including 31 points and 10 rebounds against Evansville. Fellow classmate

Grooms grabs 12: Playing in just her second collegiate game, freshman guard/forward
Kaydie Groomsgrabbed a game-high 12 rebounds in USI's win over Evansville, including the game-sealing rebound in the closing seconds of the contest.
Nimmo breaks out: Senior guard
Mariah Nimmo broke out against Evansville, scoring what would have been a career-high 13 points had the game not been an exhibition. Nimmo drained three shots from behind the arc and was 5-of-8 from the floor.
About Malone: Malone returns 10 players from a team that was 21-10 overall and 14-8 in GLIAC play last season. That list includes senior point guard Selana Reale, a second-team All-GLIAC honoree who averaged 12.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest.
About Ohio Valley: Ohio Valley, was picked to finish eighth in the GMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing 2013-14 with a 8-19 overall record and a 5-11 mark in GMAC play. Senior guard Angelique Kenee Green is the team's leading returning scorer with 6.6 points per contest. The Fighting Scots visit Oakland City Friday night prior to their visit to the PAC.
