USI hosting "Kick for the Cure" versus William Jewell


 
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team is hosting its annual "Kick for the Cure" match Friday at 5 p.m. when it hosts William Jewell College at Strassweg Field. "Kick for the Cure" t-shirts will be on sale Friday for $10 with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
 
The USI-William Jewell contest is the start of a two-match homestand for the Screaming Eagles that concludes Sunday at noon against Rockhurst University. Live coverage of the GLVC matches, including live stats and video, can be found at gousieagles.com.
 
Week 6 Eagle Notes:
 
Eagles get first win in 2014 GLVC action. The Eagles (2-6-2, 1-5-2 GLVC) got into the GLVC win-column last week with its 1-0 win over Saint Joseph's College. USI senior midfielder Maura Hulme (Westerville, Ohio) scored the game-winner and posted her first goal of the season.
 
Lohmann posted third shutout of the year.  Junior goalkeeper Jackie Lohmann (Owensboro, Kentucky) posted her third shutout of the season in the win over Saint Joseph's. Lohman has 16 career-shutouts and is in third all-time at USI.
 
Vellky leads the Eagles in scoring. Junior forward Madi Vellky (Dublin, Ohio) and Senior midfielder Mauara Hulme lead the Eagles in scoring after 10 games with four points each. Vellky has four points on a pair of goals, while Hulme recorded her four points on a goal and a team-high two assists.
 
Engelbrecht is in her 12th year. USI Head Coach Krissy Engelbrecht has an 88-106-15 overall record at USI, but is 51-42-3 in her last six seasons.
 
USI looks to draw even with Willilam Jewell. The Eagles will be looking to draw even with the Cardinals of William Jewell (5-2-3, 4-2-2 GLVC) Friday evening. USI won last year's meeting in Liberty, Missouri, 3-0, but trails in the all-time series, 2-1-0.
 
Breaking three-match winless streak on the agenda versus Rockhurst. USI has breaking a three-match winless streak on the agenda when it hosts the Hawks of Rockhurst (8-1-2, 5-1-2 GLVC) on Sunday. Rockhurst, who visits the University of Illinois Springfield Friday night, leads the all-time series with USI, 8-1-1, after taking last year's match-up in Kansas City, Missouri, 1-0.
