KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team was shutdown Rockhurst University, 2-0, Friday evening in Kansas City, Missouri. USI falls to 2-4-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Rockhurst rolls to 5-1-1, 4-0-1 GLVC.
The Hawks got out in front of the Screaming Eagles early with a tally at 7:57. The score would remain 1-0 and in Rockhurst's favor through halftime.
Rockhurst wrapped up the victory with a second goal at 61:09 of the second half. The Hawks sealed off the Eagles' offense from opportunities and preserved the 2-0 win.
USI was outshot in the match, 13-7, but had the advantage in corner kicks, 5-2.
The Eagles conclude the short two-match road swing Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when they visit William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. William Jewell saw its record go to 2-4-1 overall and 1-4-0 in the GLVC after a 1-0 home loss to the University of Illinois Springfield Friday night.
Following the two-game road swing, the Eagles return to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field October 4 and October 6 when they play the University of Indianapolis and Saint Joseph's College respectively.
