LIBERTY, Mo.---The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team held off a 22-25, 26-24, 21-25, 25-17, 15-6 William Jewell College rally to post its first Great Lakes Valley Conference victory Sunday afternoon.
Junior right side hitter
Erica Oberbroeckling (Westfield, IN) and freshman middle blocker
Amy Zwissler (Bloomington, IN) combined for a block on a Cardinal attack in the fifth set to seal the victory for the Screaming Eagles.

William Jewell (1-10, 0-2 GLVC), which had 11 team blocks, held USI to a .119 attacking percentage in the third set as it cut in front of the Eagles for the lead at the half.

USI (7-3, 1-1 GLVC) hit .238 in the fourth set and ran all over the Cardinals for an eight-point difference set-win, sending the contest into a deciding fifth set.

Oberbroeckling had 16 kills to lead the Eagles, while senior setter
Jorae Bradbury (Decatur, IN) finished with 47 assists and 5 service aces. Junior outside hitter
Fawn Ryan (Batesville, IN) had five blocks and 15 kills, while junior outside hitter
Lauren DeShaney (Appleton, WI) added 15 kills.

Kayla Heldman (Greenwood, IN) led with 25 digs while sophomore defensive specialist
Erin Goldschmidt (Smithton, IL) and Zwissler had 16 digs and six blocks, respectively.

USI opens its 2013 home schedule Friday at 5 p.m. when it hosts Missouri University of Science & Technology at the Physical Activities Center. The Miners (6-4, 2-0 GLVC) swept Saint Joseph's College in three sets Sunday afternoon in Rolla, Missouri. The Eagles also host Drury University Saturday at 1 p.m.Â
