Game Notes (pdf.)

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team enters its 2012-13 regular-season finale Thursday against Kentucky Wesleyan College with an outside shot of hosting a first-round game in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. Tip-off is slated for 5:15 p.m. at the Physical Activities Center.

USI (17-8, 9-8 GLVC), which is currently the 10th seed in the 12-team field after suffering losses to Bellarmine University and McKendree University, needs a win Thursday night and help to earn a first-round home game.

The Screaming Eagles also need a University of Missouri-St. Louis loss at Maryville University and either a University of Indianapolis loss to Saint Joseph's College or a William Jewell College loss at Rockhurst University in order to secure a first-round home game.

USI could finish as high as seventh with a win Thursday, a Missouri-St. Louis loss, a William Jewell loss, and an Indianapolis loss; but a Missouri-St. Louis win would force the Eagles to play on the road in the opening round. USI could finish as low as 11th with a loss and a Bellarmine win.

Thursday's game is the final GLVC regular-season meeting between USI and Kentucky Wesleyan—the Panthers will play in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in 2013-14.

Kentucky Wesleyan (18-7, 13-4 GLVC), which has secured a first-round bye in the GLVC Tournament, is looking to earn at least a share of the GLVC East Division title and the number one overall seed. A Kentucky Wesleyan win and a Lewis University loss would give the Panthers the out-right Division crown and the number one overall seed.

The Panthers, who are coming off wins over Bellarmine and McKendree, defeated USI, 68-59, at the Sportscenter last month and are looking for their first regular-season sweep of the Eagles since the 1991-92 season.

Sophomore forward/center Anna Hackert led the Eagles with 14 points and a career-high 20 rebounds in the first meeting with Kentucky Wesleyan, while senior guards Lauren Goffinet and Bianca Barton paced the Panthers with 17 and 15 points, respectively.

For the season, Hackert leads USI with 14.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per appearance, while Goffinet is the Panthers' leading scorer at 11.4 points per contest.
