EVANSVILLE, Ind.--- University of Southern Indiana sophomore middle blocker Abbey Winter (Germantown, Illinois) and junior outside hitter Fawn Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) led with nine and eight kills, respectively, but it wouldn't be enough as the Screaming Eagles volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to the visiting University of Indianapolis Friday night at the Physical Activities Center. The Eagles saw their six-match win streak snapped, falling to 23-7 overall and 14-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

The normally potent USI offense was silent on Friday, tallying just 30 kills while erring 22 times in 129 total attacks, and ending with a season-low .068 hitting percentage.

It was an out-right battle in set one with both teams vying for the lead. Down 12-9, the Eagles picked up their play, grabbing a 14-12 lead, forcing the Greyhounds to call a timeout. The break did nothing for USI as they came back to extend their streak, 20-16. Ryan would register USI's only remaining points in the frame, as Indianapolis went on a 9-2 run, taking the first set 25-22.

Indianapolis carried its momentum into the second frame, racing out to an 11-6 lead, later taking the set 25-16. The Greyhounds hit a .222 clip and registered four blocks, limiting the Eagles to a -.025 attacking percentage.

USI was the aggressor early in the third set, staking itself to a 4-2 lead. The Greyhounds turned the momentum around, using kills by Julia Watkins and Brittney Anglemyer, along with Eagle errors, to jump out in front 13-10. Later in the set, USI went on a 4-0 run, creeping in on UIndy's 17-16 lead. After a quick timeout, the Greyhounds returned to the hardwood for an 8-1 run and a 25-17 third-set win.

The Eagles return to the court tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. for their final regular-season match, hosting Saint Joseph's College. USI will honor Seniors Jorae Bradbury (Decatur, Indiana), Kayla Heldman (Greenwood, Indiana) and Kristy Gerardot (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) before the start of the game.
