EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to six matches with a convincing 3-0 victory over Truman State University Friday evening at Strassweg Field. USI reaches the .500 mark for the first time since the fifth game of the season at 6-6-3 overall, and moves to 5-6-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Truman State falls to 7-6-3 overall and 5-5-3 in the GLVC.

The Screaming Eagles' victory also snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Bulldogs, posting their first win over Truman State since 1991.

USI senior midfielder Alex Jenison (Evansville, Indiana) scored the eventual game-winning goal with 4:03 left in the opening half, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead before halftime. Jenison's second goal of the season came off a crossing pass from senior midfielder Nick DeSalvatore (Brentwood, Tennessee).

In the second half, the Eagles and the Bulldogs battled back-and-forth before USI junior midfielder Colton Tanner (Alexandria, Kentucky) broke through the Truman State defense to get his first goal of the season with 4:54 left in the match and give USI a 2-0 advantage. Tanner was assisted on the play by senior defender Julio Roda (Santa Cruz, Bolivia).

USI sealed the victory just over a minute later when senior forward Rush Dugger (Hanson, Kentucky) scored off a pass from junior forward Caleb Mathers (Clarkston, Michigan) to give the match its final score of 3-0. The Eagles' third goal of the contest was Dugger's team-best fifth of the season.

Between the posts, the Eagles' senior goalkeeper Jeffrey Neidlinger (Carmel, Indiana) picked up his sixth win and fifth shutout of the season. Neidlinger faced 11 shots and made three saves in the victory.

The Eagles conclude the 2013 home schedule Sunday when they host GLVC-leading Quincy University for Senior Day at Strassweg Field. USI will honor its 10 seniors – Neidlinger; DeSalvatore; Dugger; Roda; Jenison; Corey Fundenberger (Lebanon, Indiana); Kevin Minor (Edwardsville, Illinois); Austin Lage (Valley Park, Missouri); Miles Durham (Madisonville, Kentucky); Tyler White (Fishers, Indiana) – prior to the 2:30 p.m. match.
