GLVC/GLIAC Volleyball Crossover pairings announced



EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team will play Northern Michigan University, Saginaw Valley State University, and No. 20 Grand Valley State University Friday and Saturday at the Mizuno Great Lakes Valley Conference/Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Crossover in Aurora, Illinois.

USI (16-4, 9-2 GLVC) enters the sixth-annual crossover as the No. 4 seed out of the GLVC after winning its last six contests.

The Screaming Eagles will take on Northern Michigan Friday at 2:30 p.m. before closing the tournament Saturday with Saginaw Valley State at 10 a.m. and Grand Valley State at 4 p.m.

Northern Michigan (16-5, 10-1 GLIAC) is the top seed from the GLIAC, while Grand Valley State (16-3, 10-1 GLICA) and Saginaw Valley State (12-7, 7-4 GLIAC) are the No. 3 and No. 7 seeds, respectively.

USI's match-up with Northern Michigan is the second time this season that the Eagles and Wildcats have met. Northern Michigan swept USI on the opening day of the season.

The GLVC, which is currently 15-9 this season against GLIAC competition, is looking to win the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover for the fourth straight season. GLVC teams went 28-20 a year ago at the crossover, 29-19 in 2011, and 23-22 in 2010. GLIAC squads were 24-21 in 2009 and 27-12 in the inaugural crossover.

USI, which is 3-1 against GLIAC opponents this season, are currently second in the GLVC East Division. The Eagles are 5-10 all-time at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover.
