Fawn Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) slammed a match-high 14 balls to the hardwood, en route to a three-set sweep (25-17, 26-24, 25-20) over undefeated Lewis University on Friday night.

The Screaming Eagles improve to 6-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action, 12-4 overall. The Flyers saw their seven-match winning streak come to an end, falling 11-5 overall and 7-1 in conference play.

USI fired on all cylinders in Friday's win, outhitting Lewis, .241 to .147. Junior outside hitter
Lauren DeShaney (Appleton, Wisconsin) put 12 kills down for the Eagles, while sophomore
Erica Oberbroeckling (Westfield, Indiana) added 8.

Kayla Heldman (Greenwood, Indiana) was on top tallying a match-high 17 digs, followed by Oberbroeckling with 12.

In the opening set, USI got off to a relatively slow start, falling behind 7-3 before going on a 6-0 run to take a 16-12 lead. The Eagles powered through, eventually taking the set, 25-17, hitting a blistering .371.

It was a straight battle between both teams in the following set with 16 ties and eight lead changes. An attack error by Alexis Davito tied the score at 23-23 and forced her home team to call a timeout. After the short break, Heldman slammed a kill down which put the Eagles ahead 24-23. Davito answered right back with a kill to tie it up again, but committed back-to-back errors, giving USI the needed points for a 2-0 lead.

The Eagles took control of the court in set three going on three multiple-point runs to try and keep them in the lead. Down 20-19, USI went on a 6-0 run, stealing the third set from the Flyers.

USI returns to action Saturday at 3 p.m. when it travels to Somers, Wisconsin, to take on University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The Rangers (10-7, 4-4 GLVC) defeated Bellarmine University in four sets Friday night.Â
