Eagles come home for two at Strassweg

"Kick for the Cure" match is Sunday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team returns to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field this week for a pair of home games. USI (5-2-1, 3-2-1 GLVC) opens the short two-game homestand Friday when it welcomes the University of Indianapolis (2-4-2, 1-3-2 GLVC) for a 5 p.m. kick off and concludes its stay at Strassweg Sunday when Saint Joseph's College (0-6-1, 0-5-1 GLVC) visits for a noon start.

Sunday's match-up between the Screaming Eagles and the Pumas will be the second annual "Kick for the Cure" game at Strassweg Field. The Eagles will wear pink jerseys to promote awareness and the fight for a cure for breast cancer.

WEEK 5 EAGLE NOTES:

Fourth week for USI: The Eagles were 1-1-0 last week, dropping a hard-fought match at Rockhurst University, 1-0, before the offense kicked into gear as they defeated William Jewell College, 3-0. The shutout of William Jewell was the fifth team shutout of the year for the Eagles.

In the GLVC. USI is 3-2-1 through the first third of the 2013 GLVC schedule. The Eagles are currently tied for fifth in the league standings, one game out of fourth place.
