EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team hopes a return to Strassweg Field will give it the change of luck it needs. USI (2-5-1, 1-5-0 GLVC), which has lost its last four matches, hosts the University of Indianapolis (4-2-2, 3-1-2 GLVC) Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saint Joseph's College (2-5-1, 1-5-0 GLVC) Sunday at 2:30 p.m. for conference matches.
Following this weekend's short two-game homestand, the Eagles go back on the road for the next four matches.
WEEK 5 EAGLE NOTES:
Week 4 for USI: The Eagles could not get back on track last weekend in the GLVC, losing 2-0 at Rockhurst University and 2-1 at William Jewell College.
Offensive highlight of the week. Senior forward Rush Dugger (Hanson, Kentucky) scored USI's lone goal in the loss to William Jewell Sunday and was the Eagles' lone goal scorer for the second week in a row.
Scoring leaders. Junior forward Caleb Mathers (Clarkston, Michigan) continues to be USI's scoring leader this season with six points on three goals. Senior midfielder Corey Fundenberger (Lebanon, Indiana) follows with four points on two goals, both game-winners.
Eagles vs. UIndy: USI hold a 20-9-0 all-time series lead over UIndy after posting a 5-1 victory last year in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Eagles and the Greyhounds are tied three victories apiece in the last six meetings.
UIndy in the GLVC. The Greyhounds had their three-match winning streak snapped last weekend when they tied Truman State University, 1-1, in double-overtime and lost to Quincy University at home, 3-2.
Eagles vs. Saint Joseph's. The Eagles are 19-4-2 all-time against the Pumas, including a 1-0 victory last year in Rensselaer, Indiana. USI is 5-1-2 against Saint Joseph's since 2005.
Saint Joseph's in the GLVC. The Pumas have lost their last two matches, falling to Quincy and Truman State, 2-1, last weekend at home. Saint Joseph's also has lost five of its last six matches overall.
