USI's winning streak snapped by Lewis

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team had its four-game winning streak snapped by Lewis University, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI falls to 5-3-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the GLVC, while Lewis goes to 6-2-0, 4-2-0 GLVC.
 
After a scoreless first half, the Flyers scored the game-winning goal at 68:36 of the second half. The Screaming Eagles tried to fight back into the match, but were wide of the goal in five of their six chances.
 
Overall, Lewis outshot USI, 15-6, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 9-1. The Eagles did not have a corner kick until there were only 8:30 remaining in the contest.
 
The Eagles, who finished their homestand with a 3-1 mark, hit the road next week for a pair of matches. USI travels to Saint Joseph's College Friday for a 7:30 p.m. contest and concludes the road swing at the University of Indianapolis Sunday for an 11 a.m. (CDT) match.
