EVANSVILLE, Ind.  – University of Southern Indiana senior midfielder Austin Andrekus (St. Charles, Illinois) scored 6:06 into overtime to lift the Screaming Eagles to a 3-2 victory over Lewis University Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI rises 5-3-0 overall and 4-2-0 GLVC, while Lewis goes to 3-5-0, 3-3-0 GLVC. The win marks the first three-game winning streak for the Eagles since 2009.

Andrekus scored the game-winning goal from the right-side off passes from senior midfielder Jeffrey McClure (Indianapolis, Indiana) and senior defender Danny Pratte (Florissant, Missouri). Pratte started the offensive rush to the goal at midfield with a pass to the top of the box where McClure slid the ball past the defense to Andrekus. The goal was Andrekus' third of the year.

USI struck first in the match when Pratte sent a missile into the Lewis goal from the top of the box at 23:13 of the first half. Pratte's second goal of the year was assisted by McClure and junior midfielder Corey Fundenberger (Lebanon, Indiana). The score would remain 1-0 through the intermission.

The Flyers rallied to take the lead in the second half, 2-1, with goals at 56:58 and 82:17. USI would get the equalizer when Pratte put a second rocket from 20 yards into the Lewis goal with 57 seconds remaining and set the stage for overtime. Pratte's second goal of the match was his third of the year and the weekend.

In overtime, USI goalkeeper Ben Dempsey (Evansville, Indiana) saved the Eagles four minutes into the extra period. Dempsey made a save on a shot and then after USI was called for a foul in the box, saved a penalty kick and the rebounding shot. He finished the day with five saves in the win, including the three in overtime.

USI wore gold jerseys and shoelaces today as a part of  "Go for the Gold" program to promote awareness of childhood cancers.

The Eagles, who finished their homestand with a 3-1 mark, hit the road next week for a pair of matches. USI travels to Saint Joseph's College Friday for a 5:30 p.m. contest and concludes the road swing at the University of Indianapolis Sunday for a 1:30 p.m. (CDT) match.
