EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana senior forward
Susan Ellsperman (Newburgh, Indiana) scored the game-winning unassisted goal in overtime to help the Screaming Eagles defeat the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, 2-1, Friday night at Strassweg Field. USI rises to 5-2-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the GLVC, while UW-Parkside falls to 3-3-1, 2-3-0 GLVC.
With 1:57 left in the first “sudden victory” overtime, Ellsperman rushed through the Ranger defense, stole the ball away, and shot the ball into the back of the net for the win. The goal was Ellsperman's fifth of the season and her second game-winning tally of 2012.
USI had the early lead in the match as sophomore midfielder
Andrea Qualls (Evansville, Indiana) sent a rocket from 25 yards into the UW-Parkside goal with 40 seconds left before halftime. The Eagles would carry that one-goal lead into the intermission.
In the second half, the Rangers pushed their only goal of the game across at 64:10 to tie the game 1-1. The score would remain 1-1 through the remainder of regulation.
Overall in the match, the Rangers outshot the Eagles, 12-10, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 10-6.

Jackie Lohmann posted her fifth win of the year and her first overtime victory. Lohmann allowed one goal and made six saves in the match, while facing 12 total shots.
The Eagles conclude their longest homestand of the season at 2:30 p.m. Sunday when they host Lewis University. The Flyers started this weekend's action with a 4-2-0 overall mark and a 2-2-0 GLVC record before traveling to Kentucky Wesleyan College tonight.
