The Eagles and the Saints battled to a 0-0 tie after the first 45 minutes, but shortly after halftime the tide began to turn in USI's favor. Two minutes into the second half senior forward Jeffrey McClure (Indianapolis, Indiana) missed a penalty kick wide, while senior forward Mauricio Paniagua (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) had his shot on a bicycle kick narrowly miss over the crossbar.

Moll, who was appearing in his first match of the season, put the Eagles on the scoreboard with the game winner at 54:31. The senior scored his first goal off the season off passes from McClure and sophomore midfielder Carlos Mayser (Santa Cruz, Bolivia).

USI sealed the victory when Minor recorded his first goal of the season and as an Eagle when he hooked the ball into the back of the goal at 77:50. Minor, who missed all but two games last year with an injury, was assisted on the play by senior defender/midfielder Danny Pratte (Florissant, Missouri).

Between the posts, junior goalkeeper Jeffrey Neidlinger (Carmel, Indiana) posted his first shutout of the season and the second of his career. Neidlinger faced four total shots and needed to make just one save.

Overall, USI outshot Maryville, 11-4, while the Saints had the advantage in corner kicks, 2-1.

The Eagles play the second half of the four-match homestand next weekend when they host the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Lewis University Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The four-match homestand is the longest of the season for USI.
