USI loses a tough 1-0 decision

 EVANSVILLE, Ind.  – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team lost a 1-0 decision to the University of Missouri-St. Louis Friday night at Strassweg Field. USI falls to 2-3-0 overall and 1-2-0 GLVC, while UMSL rises to 2-2-0, 1-1-0 GLVC.
 
After a scoreless first half, the Tritons struck for the match's only goal at 57:00 of the second half when forward Chris Pearson scored off a pass from midfielder Billy Lacy. In the closely contested match, USI outshot UMSL, 16-9, while the Tritons had the advantage in corner kicks, 4-1.
 
The Eagles had several good chances throughout the match. Junior forward Rush Dugger (Hanson, Kentucky) hit the crossbar late in the first half, while senior forward Jeffrey McClure (Indianapolis, Indiana) was robbed by UMSL goalkeeper Patrick Ream twice in the second half.  
 
USI continues its four-game homestand at noon Sunday when it welcomes Maryville University to Strassweg Field. The Saint took a record of 1-4-0 overall and 1-1-0 GLVC into tonight match at Kentucky Wesleyan College.
