COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team started the 2012 campaign with a 3-0 loss at Ohio Dominican University Thursday night in Columbus, Ohio.
The Panthers jumped out in front of the Screaming Eagles early and led 2-0 by the intermission. ODU scored it first goal just 1:15 into the match and increased the lead to 2-0 at the 10:46 mark.
The second half saw USI and ODU battle to through a scoreless half until the Panthers scored the final goal of the match with 51 seconds remaining to produce a 3-0 final. In the game, ODU out shot USI, 14-6, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-4.
USI reaches the halfway mark of its season-opening road trip Saturday when its plays Urbana University Saturday in a neutral site match. The Eagles and the Blue Knights have a noon (CDT) kick off Saturday at Wittenburg University in Springfield, Ohio.
The four-game road swing concludes next week when the Eagles open the GLVC schedule September 7 at Quincy University. The first home match for the Eagles is not until September 14 when they host the University of Missouri-St. Louis for a GLVC match-up.
