HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.—The University of Southern Indiana softball team found itself in a 2-2 tie midway through the fourth inning when rain washed out its Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader with Northern Kentucky University Saturday.
No make-up date, if any, has been scheduled. If the games are not made up, senior third baseman/designated player
Kristen O'Haver's two-run home run in the third inning will not count.
O'Haver gave the Screaming Eagles a 2-0 lead with the blast in the top of the third inning, but Northern Kentucky answered with a pair of solo shots in the home half of the third inning. The Eagles had a runner in scoring position with one out in the fourth frame when the game was delayed and eventually postponed.
The doubleheader was originally scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (CDT), but thunderstorms forced the first pitch to be delayed nearly two hours.
USI returns to action Sunday at 11 a.m. when it travels to Louisville, Kentucky, to take on Bellarmine University in a GLVC doubleheader.
