HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The 11
th-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team could not stay on track at 15
th-ranked Northern Kentucky University and lost 69-55 Saturday afternoon in Highland Heights, Kentucky. USI falls to 20-5 overall and 12-5 in the GLVC, while NKU goes to 21-4, 13-4 GLVC.
With the loss, the Screaming Eagles fall to third in the GLVC East Division, a half-game ahead of fourth-place Kentucky Wesleyan College and a game-and-half ahead of the University of Indianapolis. The Eagles can still clinch a first round bye in the GLVC Tournament with a win next Thursday at KWC, who hosts GLVC East leading Bellarmine University tonight.
The USI season finale at KWC is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tip off next Thursday.
NKU had USI on its heels from the start, jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the opening minutes. The Norse would go on to lead by as many as 11 points, 25-14, in the first half before the Eagles could start mounting a comeback and cut the deficit to 33-25 by the intermission.
The Eagles continued their comeback in the opening minutes of second half and pulled to within one point, 39-38, with 16:40 remaining. The Norse weathered the Eagles' rally and did not allow them within two points the rest of the game.
Overall, USI was only able to muster 18-of-48 from the field and 4-of-12 from beyond the three-point arc. The Eagles, who also turned the ball over 21 times, went a combined nine minutes in the second half without a field goal and had only one field goal in the final five minutes of the game.

Brandon Hogg (Edwardsville, Illinois) and senior forward
Isaac McClure (Paducah, Kentucky) followed with 10 points each.
