EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team looks to continue its strong start to the 2012-13 campaign Sunday at 1 p.m. when it hosts Marygrove College at the Physical Activities Center.

USI (6-0), which ranks first in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in seven statistical categories including scoring offense (83.8 ppg) and scoring margin (26.8), has dominated the opposition in the first six contests.

The Screaming Eagles have held the lead for more than 213 minutes of a possible 240 minutes played this season. The Eagles have yet to face a second-half deficit this season and have not trailed in a game past the four-minute mark in the first half.

USI has used a well-balanced scoring attack to jump out to its best start since the 2000-01 season. In six games, the Eagles have had six different players lead them in the scoring column and currently have five players averaging double figures.

Junior guard Ariel Barnes, who is coming off a 23-point, five-assist outing in USI's 98-52 win over Mid-Continent University, is averaging 14.3 points and 6.0 assists per contest in USI's last three outings. She also has a 6.0 assist-to-turnover ratio in the last three games.

Junior guard Stephanie Carpenter and sophomore forward/center Anna Hackert lead the Eagles with 12.2 and 11.7 points per game, respectively, while Barnes is third on the team with 11.2 points per appearance. Sophomore guard Taylor Stevenson and sophomore forward/center Mary O'Keefe each are averaging 10.3 points per game to round out USI's double-figure scorers.

Hackert leads the Eagles with 7.3 rebounds per game, while Barnes is averaging a team-best 4.7 assists per contest.

Marygrove (1-7), which hosts the University of Michigan-Dearborn Tuesday night before visiting Aquinas College Saturday and USI Sunday, has lost seven straight games. Senior forward Keara Marks leads the Mustangs with 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

USI leads the all-time series with the Mustangs, 2-0, after recording a 101-40 victory over Marygrove in 2009.
