EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The 17th-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team cruised by Harris-Stowe State University, 104-48, in an holiday exhibition tune-up Wednesday morning at the Physical Activities Center. The Screaming Eagles are idle for the next 10 days of the holiday break before resuming regular season action December 29 when they host Cedarville University. Tip-off on December 29 is 3:15 p.m.
The Eagles scored 52 points in each half, while holding the Hornets to less than 30 points in of the first and second stanzas (21 and 27). USI shot 60.6 percent for the game (43-71) and out rebounded HSSU, 49-25.
Individually, junior forward
Orlando Rutledge (Louisville, Kentucky) and senior guard
Travis Jones (Carmi, Illinois) led the Eagles with 17 points each. Senior center
Keith DeWitt (High Point, North Carolina) and senior guard
Melvyn Little (Louisville, Kentucky) followed with 14 points each, while junior forward
Manny Ogunfolu (Rockville, Maryland) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 13 points.
After the final non-conference game of the 2012-13 schedule on December 29, the Eagles open Great Lakes Valley Conference action January 3 when they host the University of Missouri-St. Louis and January 5 when they welcome Maryville University.
