Eagles out flown by Hawks in semifinals

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern of Southern Indiana men's soccer team lost in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament to top-seeded Rockhurst University, 2-0, Friday evening in Kansas City, Missouri. Fifth-seeded USI concludes the 2012 campaign with an 11-7-0 record, while Rockhurst advances to the conference championship match with a 16-2-1 mark.
 
The Screaming Eagles had trouble getting the offense rolling tonight, while the fifth-ranked Hawks were able to find the back of the USI goal twice. Rockhurst junior forward Mark Magee, the GLVC Player of the Year, scored the game-winning goal at 11:54 of the first half, while junior midfielder Paolo Scoppola sealed the match for the Hawks with a tally at 49:25 of the second half.
 
The Hawks dominated the first 45 minutes, out shooting the Eagles, 10-6. USI, however, tried to battle back in the second half, but could not get on the scoreboard despite out shooting Rockhurst, 7-5.  
 
USI concludes the 2012 campaign by reaching double-digits in wins and the GLVC Tournament for the first time since 2003 and to the GLVC Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2002.
