LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer saw its season come to an end with a 2-0 loss to Bellarmine University in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky. Sixth-seeded USI finishes the year 10-7-1, while third-seeded Bellarmine advances with a 14-2-2 mark.
The first round loss marks the second time in three years that the Knights have blocked the Screaming Eagles from advancing in the conference tournament. USI was appearing in the GLVC Tournament for a fourth straight year, the second longest run in the history of the program.
Bellarmine took control of the match midway through the opening half with a goal at 24:29. The Knight sealed the victory with their second tally three minutes into the second half. The Eagles seemed to come to life after the second goal, out shooting the Knights, 11-6, in the second half.
Overall, USI outshot Bellarmine, 18-15, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 8-2.
