Buoyed by the serving of freshman defensive specialist
Erin Goldschmidt, the Screaming Eagles used a 12-0 run in the opening set to build a commanding 16-3 advantage. Goldschmidt, who finished the match with a service ace and seven digs, served 11 of USI's points during the spurt as the Eagles established the tone for the match.
Freshman middle blocker

After overcoming an early four-point deficit to edge the Pumas (7-20, 1-12 GLVC) in the second set, the Eagles stormed out of the gates in the third set to grab an early 6-1 lead.
USI (13-13, 9-4 GLVC) used another 6-1 spurt later in the frame to extend its lead to 15-7, before using a 5-0 outburst moments later to build a 12-point advantage.
Four different players had three kills for the Eagles in the third set as USI earned an eight-point win to complete the regular-season series sweep of the Pumas.
In addition to Winter and Goldschmidt, the Eagles had strong outings from sophomore outside hitter
Lauren DeShaney and freshman right side hitter
Erica Oberbroeckling. DeShaney finished with 12 kills, while Oberbroeckling added seven kills and a .583 attacking percentage.
