ROLLA, Mo. – University of Southern Indiana freshman forward Madi Vellky (Dublin, Ohio) provided the margin of victory for a second-straight game as the Screaming Eagles defeated Missouri University of Science & Technology, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in Rolla, Missouri. USI goes to 8-5-1 overall and 7-4-1 in the GLVC, while Missouri S&T is 6-8-0, 4-8-0 GLVC.
 
After the Eagles and the Miners were scoreless for 79 minutes, Vellky headed in a pass from junior forward Julia Kohnen (Florissant, Missouri) at 80:41 for the game-winning goal. The goal was Vellky's fifth of the season and her team-best third game-winner of the season.
 
In goal, freshman goalkeeper Jackie Lohmann (Owensboro, Kentucky) recorded her fifth shutout of the season. Lohmann faced 10 shots and made eight saves to win her seventh game.  
 
USI concludes its three-match road swing Friday at 5 p.m. in Lebanon, Illinois, when it visits McKendree University. The Eagles return to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field when they host Bellarmine University October 21 for Senior Day.
