EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team kicks off the 2011 GLVC season this week when it travels to Bellarmine University Friday and hosts ninth-ranked Northern Kentucky University Sunday. Start time on the road Friday is 2:55 p.m. (CDT) in Louisville, Kentucky, while Sunday's contest is scheduled for a noon kick-off at Strassweg Field.

The Screaming Eagles (0-1-1, 0-0-0 GLVC) are coming off an exhausting start to the regular season at the Tusculum Pioneer Classic. USI tied 16th-ranked Columbus State University, 0-0, in double overtime, but lost a heartbreaker, 1-0, to Georgia College and State University to conclude tournament action.
The Eagles start the GLVC campaign in search of their third-straight appearance in the GLVC Tournament and their first-ever conference championship. USI finished tied for third in the regular season last year, before losing in the first round of the GLVC Tournament to Bellarmine.
Bellarmine (1-0-1, 0-0-0 GLVC) started the year with a 1-1 double overtime tie at Tiffin University and a 3-2 win at the University of Findlay. The Knights leads the all-time series with USI, 8-6-2, and is 5-0-2 in the last seven meetings with the Eagles.
Of the last seven match-ups, the Eagles and the Knights have gone to overtime four times.
NKU (2-0-0, 0-0-0 GLVC) is off to a roaring start in 2011 with 16 goals in two matches. The Norse started the year with a 7-1 victory at Findlay and concluded the first weekend with a 9-0 win at home over Tiffin. USI trails the all-time series with NKU, 12-4-0.
The USI-NKU match is the first of eight home contests for the Eagles in 2011. USI was 6-3-1 at Strassweg Field last year.
