USI still looking for first win in the GLVC

LIBERTY, Mo. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team is still looking for its first win in the 2011 GLVC season after losing a 6-1 decision at William Jewell College Sunday afternoon in Liberty, Missouri. USI goes to 1-7-0 overall and 0-6-0 in the GLVC, while WJC rises to 4-4-0, 3-3-0 GLVC.
 
The Screaming Eagles fell behind early when WJC scored at the fourth and 18th minutes to lead 2-0. USI junior midfielder Jeffrey McClure (Indianapolis, Indiana) cut the margin in half in the 34th minute with his second goal of the season. The score would remain 2-1 through the intermission.
 
In the second half, the Cardinals took off offensively and scored four goals to seal the victory. The Eagles tried to cut into the lead late when freshman Nick DeSalvatore (Brentwood, Tennessee) scored with 6:30 left for the 6-2 final. The goal was DeSalvatore's first of the season and his collegiate career.
 
USI returns to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field for a pair of matches next weekend. The Eagles are scheduled to host the University of Indianapolis Friday at 5 p.m. and Saint Joseph's College Sunday at noon.
