RENSSELAER, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team rolled to a three-set sweep of Saint Joseph's College Saturday afternoon in Rensselaer, Indiana. USI, which broke a two-match losing skid, rises to 7-4 overall and 5-2 in the GLVC, while SJC falls to 6-7, 1-6 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles dominated all three sets, hitting .400 in the 25-10 opening set victory. USI ended the match in short fashion, winning a close second set, 25-22, and a solid third set, 25-19. The Eagles had a strong.315 attacking percentage with 39 kills in 92 attacks.
Senior middle blocker
Danielle LaGrange (Santa Claus, Indiana) led the Eagles with 14 kills and 16 total points. Freshman outside hitter
Lauren DeShaney (Appleton, Wisconsin) followed with nine kills and posted a team-best .692 attacking percentage.
LaGrange and DeShaney were set up in the attack by sophomore setter
Jorae Bradbury (Decatur, Indiana), who had 30 assists.
The Eagles, who visit the University of Missouri-St. Louis Wednesday at 7 p.m. for a non-conference contest, return to the friendly surroundings of the Physical Activities Center next weekend when they host the GLVC West Division's Rockhurst University Saturday at 5 p.m. and William Jewell College Sunday at 1 p.m. Next weekend's showdowns are USI's first against the West Division this year.
