USI continues searching for answers on the road

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team continued to search for answers on the road after being shut out by Rockhurst University, 3-0, Friday night in Kansas City, Missouri. USI falls to 3-4-1 overall and 3-2-0 in the GLVC, while Rockhurst rises to 3-2-1, 2-2-1 GLVC.

The
Screaming Eagles continue to look for their first win away from Strassweg Field this year. USI, which is 0-4-1 away from home this season and 3-0-0 at Strassweg Field, also is still searching for it first road goal of the year.

Rockhurst flew out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, scoring in the 21st and 34th minute. The Hawks dominated the first 45 minutes, out shooting USI, 7-1.

The second half saw Rockhurst remain in control of the match. The Hawks sealed the victory with a goal in the 64th minute and outshot the Eagles in the second half, 11-6.

For the game, USI trailed in shooting, 18-7, and in corner kicks, 13-3. Rockhurst's defense limited USI junior forward Susan Ellsperman (Newburgh, Indiana) to just one shot. USI sophomore Julia Kohnen (Florissant, Missouri) was the only Eagle with multiple shots, finishing the game with four.

The Eagles finish their two-match road swing Sunday when they travel to William Jewell College for the first time in the program's history. WJC started the evening 4-3-0 overall and 2-3-0 GLVC after defeating Kentucky Wesleyan College, 4-1.
