USI shutout by Missouri S&T, 2-0

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team could not get the offense going and was shutout by Missouri University of Science & Technology, 2-0, Friday night at Strassweg Field. USI falls to 1-4-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the GLVC, while Missouri S&T rises to 4-1-0, 2-1-0 GLVC.

The first half saw the Miners jump out to a 1-0 led at the 25:16 mark and the Missouri S&T defense hold the Screaming Eagles to one shot wide. Missouri S&T held an 8-1 lead in shots after the first 45 minutes and a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.

USI was able to manufacture shots at the Miners' goal in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net. The Eagles outshot Missouri S&T, 8-4, and were tied in corner kicks, 2-2, in the final 45 minutes.

The Eagles conclude their three-game homestand Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when they host Drury University. The Panthers rose to 4-2-0 overall and 2-1-0 GLVC after defeating Kentucky Wesleyan College, 4-1, Friday afternoon.
