Lauren DeShaney combined for 19 kills and a .667 attacking percentage to lead the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team to a 25-12, 25-13, 25-20 victory over host Kentucky Wesleyan College Tuesday night.
LaGrange, the reigning Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week, made good on her first nine attack attempts as she finished with 10 kills, a .769 attacking percentage, and a match-high five blocks. DeShaney added nine kills, a .571 attacking percentage, and three blocks, while sophomore middle blocker
Emily Diedrich chipped in eight kills, a .467 attacking percentage, and three blocks.
USI (5-2, 3-0 GLVC) recorded a blistering .455 attacking percentage and a .830 side-out percentage in the opening set. The Eagles finished the match with a .345 attacking percentage and held the Panthers (3-7, 0-3 GLVC) to a .072 attacking percentage.
Sophomore setter
Jorae Bradbury had a match-high 27 assists and a team-best 10 digs as the Eagles won their third straight match.
USI opens its 2011 home schedule Friday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Bellarmine University at the Physical Activities Center. The Knights (5-2, 1-2 GLVC) lost to No. 14 Northern Kentucky University in three sets Tuesday night in Highland Heights, Kentucky. The Eagles also host Northern Kentucky Saturday at 3 p.m.
