EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The second-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team used a 14-0 first half run to take control and cruised to a 74-45 victory over Cedarville University Saturday night at the Physical Activities Center. USI rises to 9-0 overall for the second time in three years and the seventh time in the history of the program, while Cedarville falls to 6-4.
 
The Screaming Eagles spotted the Yellow Jackets an early 5-0 lead before they could get the offense moving. Senior forward Isaac McClure (Paducah, Kentucky) made his first appearance of the season and came off the bench to spark the Eagles with eight points in a row during the run.

USI would go on to outscore Cedarville, 20-3, in the middle of the first half and led to as many as 14 points, 24-10, with 5:06 left in the opening half. The Yellow Jackets tried to get back on track before halftime and cut the margin to eight points, 24-16, but trailed by 11 points at the break, 29-18.
 
A big key to the first half was the Eagles' defense that held the Yellow Jackets to just 26.1 percent from the field (6-23).
 
USI's lead remained between 10 and 15 points through the first 10 minutes of the final half before the Eagles put the offensive jets on again. The Eagles outscored the Yellow Jackets 17-3 in the final 10 minutes for a 74-45 final.
 
Individually, McClure made the most of his season debut with a game-high 20 points. He was a blistering 8-of-11 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free throw line, while grabbing five rebounds.
 
Senior guard Brandon Hogg (Edwardsville, Illinois) followed McClure in the scoring column with 14 points, while freshman forward Austin Davis (Freeport, Illinois) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 13 points.
 
The Eagles return to action December 30 at 7:30 p.m. when they host Harris-Stowe State University to conclude the first half of the four-game homestand.
