LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The third-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team cruised to a 90-64 victory over Ohio Valley University on the final day of Bellarmine University's Fern Valley Hotel Classic in Louisville, Kentucky. USI rises to 8-0 overall for the ninth time in the history of the program, while OVU falls to 3-6 this year.
The Screaming Eagles led from the opening bucket and used a 20-2 run midway through the opening half to take total control of the contest. USI would eventually lead by as many as 31 points during the first half, 53-22, before settling for the 29-point advantage at halftime, 53-24.
USI junior guard
Travis Jones (Carmi, Illinois) led the Eagles' first half domination with 17 points off the bench. He hit 5-of-9 from beyond the three-point arc and a pair of free throws during 17 minutes of action in the opening stanza.
The Eagles cruised through the second half and extended the lead to 35 points, 78-43, with 6:59 left. The Patriots would close the gap to 23 points with 1:15 remaining before the Eagles concluded the contest with a 26-point, 90-64 final. USI would finish the game shooting 51.7 percent from the field (30-58) and out rebounding Ohio Valley, 47-28.
Individually,
Travis Jones finished the game with a team-high and season-best 22 points. He hit 7-of-14 field goals during the game with six three-point bombs and the two first half free throws.

Brandon Hogg (Edwardsville, Illinois), who scored USI's first eight points of the game, and sophomore guard
Lawrence Thomas (Springfield, Illinois) followed
Travis Jones in the scoring column with 13 points each. Freshman forward
Austin Davis (Freeport, Illinois) and sophomore guard
Ben Jones (Robinson, Illinois) rounded out the USI double-digit scorers with season-highs of 12 points and 11 points, respectively.
Senior center
Antwand Roshell (Wauwatosa, Wisconsin) was USI's top rebounder with a team-best and season-high 10 boards, while junior guard
Kenyon Smith (Chicago, Illinois) dished out a team-high and season-best eight assists. Smith also grabbed nine rebounds.
The Eagles return to the friendly surroundings of the Physical Activities Center December 17 at 3:15 p.m. to play Cedarville University. The USI-Cedarville match-up starts the second four-game homestand of the year for the Eagles. The homestand also features Harris-Stowe State University on December 30; Missouri University of Science & Technology on January 5; and Drury University on January 7.
