OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team lost its season finale at Oakland City University, 3-1, Friday afternoon. USI finishes the year 5-11-2, while Oakland City rises to 8-5-1 in 2011.
The Mighty Oaks opened the scoring with a goal 10:09 into the match and would hold the 1-0 lead through the intermission. Oakland City upped the lead to 2-0 with a tally at 53:30 of the second half.
The Screaming Eagles cut the deficit in half and scored their only goal of the match came off the foot of junior midfielder
Austin Andrekus (St. Charles, Illinois), who scored on a penalty kick at 54:39. The goal was Andrekus' sixth of the season.
Oakland City sealed the victory with the final goal of the match at 78:00.
