Andrekus records hat trick in Eagles' win

BOX SCORE

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana junior midfielder Austin Andrekus (St. Charles, Illinois) scored three first half goals to lead the Screaming Eagles to a 7-2 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College Wednesday evening at Strassweg Field. USI goes to 5-10-2 overall and 4-9-2 in the GLVC, while KWC concludes the 2011campaign 3-15-0, 1-14-0 GLVC.

Andrekus, who has five goals this fall, had three of USI's five opening half goals. He also assisted on USI's first goal of the game by freshman defender Miles Durham (Madisonville, Kentucky) and the fourth goal by sophomore forward Rush Dugger (Hanson, Kentucky).

The goal was Durham's third of the season, while Dugger has a team-best nine tallies in 2011.

After USI took a 5-0 lead into halftime, KWC cut the margin to 5-1 in the 55th minute. USI responded with goals by junior midfielder Trey Fosburgh (Collinsville, Illinois) and junior midfielder Ryan Moll (Evansville, Indiana) to make the score 7-1.

Fosburgh's goal was his first of the season, while Moll recorded his second goal of the fall.

The Panthers' offense was able to find the back of the Eagles' goal once more in the 83rd minute and cut the margin to 7-2. That would be as close as KWC would come.

The Eagles are tentatively scheduled to conclude the 2011 regular season at 2 p.m. Friday when they travel to Oakland City University. The USI-OCU match was originally scheduled for October 19, but postponed due to weather.
