USI and Quincy battle to 1-1 draw

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team and Quincy University battled to a 1-1 double-overtime draw Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI goes to 4-10-2 overall and 3-9-2 in the GLVC, while Quincy is 9-5-2, 8-4-2 GLVC.
 
The Screaming Eagles got on the scoreboard first when sophomore forward Rush Dugger (Hanson, Kentucky) scored his fifth goal of the weekend and his eighth of the year at 7:38. He was assisted on the play by freshman defender James Kennedy (Waterford, Michigan) and sophomore defender Tyler White (Fishers, Indiana).
 
USI would make the 1-0 lead stand up until eight seconds left before half time when Quincy knotted the score, 1-1. That would be the last tally of the match.
 
In a hotly contested second half and overtimes, both team had numerous opportunities. Quincy hit the crossbar with five seconds remaining in regulation and 28 seconds left in the first overtime period.
 
USI junior midfielder Jeffrey McClure (Indianapolis, Indianapolis) had the Eagles' best opportunity of the second overtime when he hit the post with 53 seconds remaining.
 
The Eagles conclude the homestand Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. when they host Kentucky Wesleyan College. The Panthers rose to 3-14-0 overall and 1-13-0 in the GLVC with a 3-2 win over the University of Illinois Springfield this afternoon.
