EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team completes a five-match road swing Wednesday at Oakland City University before returning to Strassweg Field for a season-ending three-match homestand. Kick off at OCU is 2 p.m.
The Screaming Eagles are on an upswing, winning two of their last three matches and breaking a nine-match winless streak in the GLVC. USI split its two matches over the weekend with a 4-3 double-overtime triumph at Maryville University and a 2-1 loss at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
The Mighty Oaks (7-5-0) have struggled the last three weeks, losing three straight matches and four of the last six. OCU is 2-0-0 against GLVC teams this fall, defeating the University of Illinois Springfield and Saint Joseph's College.
USI leads the all-time series with OCU, 3-0-2, after taking last year's match, 3-2, at Strassweg Field.
Following the USI-OCU non-conference match-up, the Eagles come home for three matches to conclude the 2011 regular season.
The first to visit USI are the Prairie Stars of UIS (0-11-2, 0-10-2 GLVC) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles are on top in the all-series, 4-2-1, and have won the last three meetings since the Prairie Stars joined the GLVC.
The midway mark of the homestand is Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when USI hosts Quincy University (8-5-1, 7-4-1 GLVC). The Hawks, who play at Kentucky Wesleyan College Friday afternoon before coming to Evansville, are still in the hunt to host a first round match in the GLVC Tournament. Quincy is coming off an 0-2-0 homestand with losses to league-leading Northern Kentucky University and Bellarmine University.
The Hawks lead the all-time series with the Eagles, 13-4-0, and have won the last eight meetings with USI.
The 2011 regular season finale is October 26 at 7:30 p.m. when USI hosts KWC (2-13-0, 0-12-0 GLVC). The Panthers enter this weekend's action with UIS and Quincy still looking for their first GLVC win of the season and are in the midst of a 13-match losing streak.
USI holds a commanding 23-6-1 all-time series advantage over KWC and has won nine straight matches with the Panthers.
