Eagles grounded by Tritons, 2-1

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team ended the GLVC part of a five-match road trip with a 2-1 loss at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Sunday afternoon in St. Louis, Missouri. USI falls to 3-10-1 overall and 2-9-1 in the GLVC, while UMSL rises to 7-4-3, 6-4-2 GLVC.
 
The Tritons jumped out in front 12:40 into the first half to lead 1-0. UMSL would hold that lead through halftime.
 
USI evened the match 12 minutes into the second half when freshman midfielder Miles Durham (Madisonville, Kentucky) recorded his first collegiate goal at 57:40. Durham scored off an assist by junior midfielder Jeffrey McClure (Indianapolis, Indiana).
 
The Screaming Eagles had three more shots on-goal before the Tritons picked up the eventual game-winning goal at 82:24 to make the score 2-1. USI was only able to get one more shot on-goal before the end match.  
 
Overall, UMSL outshot USI, 9-7, and had the advantage corner kicks, 5-2.
 
USI is 2-2-0 during the five-game road swing that concludes at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with a non-conference match at Oakland City University. The Eagles return to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field Friday to play the University of Illinois Springfield and start a three-match homestand to conclude the 2011 regular season campaign.
