FRANKFORT, Ky.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team wasted little time dispatching host Kentucky State University Tuesday night as the Screaming Eagles claimed a 25-11, 25-9, 25-19 victory over the Thorobreds.

USI (12-5) hit a blistering .500 in the opening set and .414 in the second frame as it jumped out to a quick two-game advantage. The Eagles scored 16 of the first 19 points in the first set and used a 16-4 run to begin the second frame.

The Eagles, who never trailed through the entirety of the match, used a 5-0 spurt in the later stages of the third frame to distance themselves from their opposition and claim the three-set victory in a match that lasted just 59 minutes.

Freshman outside hitter Lauren DeShaney led the Eagles with nine kills, a .533 attacking percentage, and three aces. Sophomore setter Jorae Bradbury had a match-high 20 assists in just two sets, while senior middle blocker Danielle LaGrange chipped in eight kills and nine digs.

LaGrange also had a .500 attacking percentage for the Eagles, who hit .355 for the match. USI also held the Thorobreds (17-11), who advanced to the NCAA II Tournament a year ago, to a .054 attacking percentage.

Sophomore libero Kayla Heldman added a match-high 11 digs for the Eagles, who have won five consecutive matches.

The Eagles return to action Friday at 11:30 a.m. when they take on Wayne State University in the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover in Aurora, Illinois. The Eagles also play Saginaw Valley State University Friday at 5:30 p.m.
