HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team fell short against 21st-ranked Northern Kentucky University, 2-1, in the GLVC opener Sunday afternoon in Highland Height, Kentucky. USI falls to 1-1-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the GLVC, while NKU goes to 2-0-0, 1-0-0 GLVC.
NKU put the first goal of the game on the scoreboard in the first half with a goal at 10:09 on an own-goal. The Norse upped the lead to 2-0 to begin the second half the 46:45 mark.
The Screaming Eagles got back into the game with a goal at 72:56 when freshman forward
Andrew Rosenberg scored his first collegiate goal to make the score 2-1. Rosenberg knocked in the rebound of a shot by senior midfielder
Michael Simcock, who hit the post on a free kick. Simcock was credited with an assist on the play.

Jeff McClure had shots blocked in the final 10 minutes before time ran out of the Eagles. NKU outshot USI, 22-11, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 10-2.
The Eagles return to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field Tuesday when they host West Virginia University Institute of Technology for a 7 p.m. contest. USI resumes GLVC action next weekend on the road, traveling to Saint Joseph's College on September 10 and the University of Indianapolis on September 12.
