PENSACOLA, Fla.—Senior outside hitter Brittani Oliver had a match-high 12 kills and a .500 attacking percentage as the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team breezed by The University of Alabama-Huntsville in straight sets (25-22, 25-20, 25-15) Saturday to conclude the University of West Florida Comfort Inn-vitational with a 2-1 mark.

Oliver, who surpassed USI Head Coach Leah Mercer '02 for 10th place on USI's all-time kills list on Friday, is now just 49 kills shy of reaching 1,000 in her career.

As a team, the Screaming Eagles (2-1) had 37 kills and attacked at a .304 pace, including a .391 clip in the third set. The Eagles also racked up 11 service aces, including a match-high five from senior defensive specialist Janae Curnutt.

Curnutt opened the third and final set with three straight aces as USI rolled to a 10-point win in the match-clinching frame.

Defensively, the Eagles looked sharp as they held the Chargers (1-3) to a .165 attacking percentage. Junior libero Krista Coccaro had a match-high 15 digs, while freshman middle blocker Emily Diedrich racked up a match-high four blocks to go with five kills.

Junior middle blocker Danielle LaGrange added nine kills, a .500 attacking percentage, eight digs, and a pair of blocks, while sophomore setter Ashley King finished with a match-high 29 assists and three blocks.

USI returns to action Friday at 10 a.m. when it takes on preseason No. 25 Truman State University in the first round of the University of Missouri-St. Louis Triton Classic in St. Louis, Missouri.
