Danny Pratte (Florissant, Missouri) scored one goal each in leading the Screaming Eagles to a 2-1 win over the University of Illinois-Springfield Sunday afternoon. USI raises its record to 5-4-0 overall and 3-4-0 in the GLVC, while UIS falls to 1-6-1, 1-5-1 GLVC.
Rawnsley gave USI a 1-0 first half lead at 18:50 off a pass from freshman forward
Andrew Rosenberg (New Albany, Indiana). The goal was Rawnsley's team-best fifth of the season.
The score would remain 1-0 until Pratte gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead at 57:37 of the second half. Pratte was assisted on his second goal of the season by senior midfielder
Michael Simcock (England). Simcock has a team-high four assists this season.
The Prairie Stars cut the led to 2-1 with a goal at 60:58, but the Eagles were able to hold UIS to just one shot in the final 29 minutes for the win. USI sophomore goalkeeper
Ben Dempsey (Evansville, Indiana) made six saves while raising his record to 2-1-0 this year.
Overall, the Eagles and the Prairie Stars were even in shots, 10-10. USI had the advantage in corner kicks, 9-5.
USI returns to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field next weekend when it hosts Drury University Friday at 5 p.m. and Rockhurst University, Sunday at noon.
