QUINCY, Ill. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team lost a second half shootout at Quincy University, 3-2, Friday night. USI falls to 4-4-0 overall and 2-4-0 GLVC, while Quincy falls to 5-2-0, 4-1-0 GLVC.
After a scoreless first half, the offense for the Screaming Eagles and the Hawks kicked into high gear. USI got on the scoreboard first when freshman forward
Andrew Rosenberg (New Albany, Indiana) found the back of the goal with his second tally of the season at 57:23. Rosenberg was assisted on the play by senior midfielder
Michael Simcock (England).
Quincy bounced back to tie the score, 1-1, at 59:53 before Rosenberg gave USI the lead back, 2-1, at 60:49. Rosenberg's second goal was unassisted as he gathered the ball in the box.
The Hawks responded by tying the match, 2-2, at 76:47 and took their first lead of the match at 83:18. Quincy outshot USI, 16-10, overall, but the Eagles had the advantage in corner kicks, 3-1.
The Eagles complete the two-game road swing at noon Sunday when they travel to the University of Illinois-Springfield. The Prairie Stars entered tonight's action 0-5-1, 0-4-1 GLVC and hosted Kentucky Wesleyan College at home tonight.
