EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team takes to the road in the GLVC this weekend when it plays at Quincy University Friday and the University of Illinois-Springfield Sunday. Kick off Friday at Quincy is 7:30 p.m., while the start time at UIS is 2:30 p.m.
The Screaming Eagles (4-3-0, 2-3-0 GLVC) split their two-match homestand last weekend, losing to Lewis University, 3-1, and bouncing back to defeat the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, 2-1. USI is 3-1-0 overall at Strssweg Field, but just 1-2-0 away from home.
Offensively, senior forward
Simon Rawnsley (England) leads the Eagles with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Rawnsley had two of USI's three goals against Lewis and UW-Parkside.
Senior midfielder
Michael Simcock (England) follows Rawnsley in the scoring with six points on two goals and two assists. Sophomore forward
Austin Andrekus (St. Charles, Illinois), who had the game-winner against UW-Parkside, rounds out the top three scorers with four points on two goals.
In goal, sophomore goalkeeper
Ben Dempsey (Evansville, Indiana) has a 2-0-0 overall record after getting his second win of the season in the victory over UW-Parkside. Dempsey also has a 1.33 goals against average in 270 minutes between the posts.
Quincy (4-2-0, 3-1-0 GLVC) enters this week's action tied for second in the GLVC and has won its last three matches after starting the year 1-2-0. The Hawks lead the all-time series with the Eagles, 13-3-0, and have won the last eight with USI.
UIS (0-5-1, 0-4-1 GLVC), which starts the weekend by hosting Kentucky Wesleyan College, is still in search of its first win of the season. The Eagles leads the all-time series, 3-2-1, after defeating the Prairie Stars, 2-0, last year in Strassweg Field.
