Eagles shutout by Rangers, 2-0

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team was shutout by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI falls to 5-2-0 and to 3-2-0 in the GLVC, while UWP rises to 5-1-0, 5-0-0 GLVC.
After the teams played to a scoreless tie in the first 45 minutes, Rangers junior forward Stephanie Becker scored twice to lift UW-Parkside to the win. Becker scored her seventh and eighth goals of the year, both unassisted, at 59:55 and 74:14.
Becker's goals broke USI junior goalkeeper Stephanie Bodamer's (Highland, Indiana) streak of 311 minutes of shutout soccer. Bodamer, who had four saves in the match, had not allowed a goal since the first week of the season.
Overall, the Rangers outshot the Eagles, 20-9, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-4.
The Eagles return to the road next weekend for a pair of GLVC contests. USI visits Quincy University Friday at 5 p.m. and the University of Illinois-Springfield Sunday at noon. The next home game for USI is October 1 when Drury University makes an appearance at Strassweg Field.
